Remove Watermark from WOW Slider 4.x (WordPress Plugin)

Removing the Watermark from WOW Slider 4.x (WordPress Plugin) is a simple straight -forward process involving only 4 steps.

You can easily remove the watermark from WOW Slider 4.x using the steps below:

  1. Using WOW Slider 4.x (Free Version) go ahead and create and publish a new gallery.
  2. Open “script.js” from “wp-content → uploads → wow-slider-plugin → gallery folder name”.
  3. Find: (“contextmenu”,function(c){return false}).show() and change .show() to .hide()
  4. Open: “wp-content → uploads → wow-slider-plugin → gallery folder name → images” and replace all the images with your original images.

Removing the watermark from WOW Slider 4.x is fast and simple.

FYI – This Page Header is using “Slider Revolution”.

UPDATE – WOW Slider keeps changing their platform every few weeks to stop these watermark fixes. I will try my best to keep up. To be totally honest I have found a much better slider solution: “Click here to check out  the BEST WordPress Slider Plugin!“.

  • It is super easy to install and use use.
  • It has every feature/function imaginable
  • Best of all, it’s AFFORDABLE

The price is only $19.00 but for the quality and time savings, it is well, worth it.

This is now the only slider I now use exclusively and suggest giving it a try:

Best jQuery slider plugin for WordPress (hands down)

Check out the “Live Preview”, you will not be sorry!
Soliloquy - The Best Responsive WordPress Slider Plugin. Period.

The header on this page was created with SLIDER REVOLUTION. My second favorite slider!

    This was way too simple.

Will this work with the older versions of WOW Slider?

Or Should I stick with the latest version?

    Thanks,

    Susan

      Thank you Susan!

Yes, The 3.x older versions of WOW SLIDER basically are the same but files are named differently.

Their website homepage has nothing about a watermark or a paid option to remove it. Their slider does not even show the watermark…lol.

I love the WOW Slider and think it was a shame (scam) that they added the watermark to the gallery images. They really push that this is a free slider to get you to install and configure it. Then after an hour of work you see the end result and it has a watermark on it. I think it is kind of like bait and switch. Grab you under the assumption that it is free then after spending time installing it, bam they want to charge you.

Sorry I went on a rant. Things like this just make me madddd!

Back to the point – I wanted to thank you for this tip to remove the watermark!!!!!!

I wonder if the next version will be updated to stop this?

I agree with you 100%. I consider this to be a scam. I even contacted them to express my dismay. I recommend that everyone does the same: support@wowslider.com

When a new version is released I will take a look at it and see what I can do.

If you are happy with your slider, simply do not update to the next version.

I paid for the Wow slider a few months ago because I thought there was no other option to get rid of that damn logo. That really pissed me off!

Thanks to this article I see how easy it is to remove their logo. Now I am really, really pissed!

Wish I would have seen this earlier!!!!!!

      I’d be angry as well.

I think you should contact WOW Slider Support and let know how you feel about their “Watermark” scam.

Not quiet as easy as 123 but in the end everything turned out great! Thanks!!!

I tried this slider the other day. Found it on Softpedia, read the description, and then noticed they charged money for it.

Anybody that takes FREE open source software, modifies a very small percentage of it maybe 3%, and then wants way too much money for it, is in my opinion a common thief and should spend a little time in prison, maybe 20 days would wake them up. You can see the Javascripts and other FOSS software right in the folders it creates.

The slider isn’t even a great slider. The effects you get are very common, it’s nothing special.

Thanks for the tip. I also like this template/theme you use because of it’s simplicity and lack of clutter.

      Thanks for the comment!

I use woo canvas theme because you can do just about anything with it. In the case of this site I am using the bare minimum and the WOW Slider…lol.

    H,
Anybody knows how to remove the style.css that WOW attach with every slider. I’ve change it and I need to manually replace it every time I upload a new slider
    Thanks

Just an update for you guys, for WOW Slider 4.0, the Javascript code is now located in wowslider.js. You’ll have to delete it from there now.

thank you so much.. but, how to remove WOW 4.2 ?

    • Bucks August 5, 2013 at 9:58 am #

It is kinda the same, this time it is in the file called “wowslider.js” find the following : “contextmenu”,function(c){return false}).show() and change the .show() to .hide() and then replace the images because these idiots like to add shit to the images.

    • Sergio August 6, 2013 at 11:54 pm #

Hi, for the WOW 4.2 remove this line
      if(U){U.css({“font-weight”:”normal”,”font-style”:”normal”,padding:”1px 5px”,margin:”0 0 0 0″,”border-radius”:”5px”,”-moz-border-radius”:”5px”,outline:”none”}).attr({href:”http://”+d.toLowerCase()}).html(d).bind(“contextmenu”,function(c){return false}).show().appendTo(aj||document.body).attr(“target”,”_blank”)}

      in WOWSLider.JS

      Regards!!

I will be working on the new update this week and will publish the new instructions.

WOW Slider keeps changing their platform every few weeks to stop these watermark fixes. To be totally honest I have found the best “Slider” that out-performs just about anything I have found. It is super easy to install, and use.

This is now the only slider I use exclusively and suggest giving it a try.

Click on the banner at the top of this post to check it out.

Thanks for this nice thread, really great to know that this watermark can be removed. maybe Wow slider wanna stamp all the sliding images in the world. I guess they want to expand and be known also. lol

  12. Soheb Rapati August 5, 2013 at 7:12 am #

    In wowslider.js find “bind(“contextmenu”,function(c)” .

check if it is like bind(“contextmenu”,function(c){return false}).show() then replace Show() with Hide()…

    bind(“contextmenu”,function(c){return false}).Hide()……

  13. Michael Hutton August 16, 2013 at 12:32 pm #

Has anyone found out how to remove this in 4.3, as none of the above seems to work for the latest version?

About half way through the routine I decided that this is a waist of time.

I went ahead and purchased the Solilquy Slider you recommended.

I have to agree, it is great! Thanks for the recommendation!

      Thanks!

I have been a Web Designer for 10 + years and have tried dozens of sliders (both WordPress and not).

Some of the other sliders are slightly better however they are much more expensive.

For the price, Soliloquy is the best responsive slider that I have tried recently.

The only improvement I can recommend is that Soliloquy change their name and make it easier

    bind(“contextmenu”,function(c){return false}).hide
